Permafrost
Survive the frozen apocalypse, build shelter networks, and uncover a world trapped in endless winter.
Permafrost is a story-driven, open-world survival sandbox developed by SpaceRocket Games and published by Toplitz Productions. After a series of global catastrophes culminates in the shattering of the moon, Earth is plunged into endless winter. As Rook, an engineer drawn into the frozen wilderness by a radio signal, players scavenge ruined cities, hunt in the wilderness, restore shelters, craft cold-weather equipment, and cross faction-controlled territories. The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players.
Survival pressures to plan for
The game's reported survival loop revolves around four related pressures: extreme cold, hunger, exhaustion, and dangerous travel. A successful expedition usually depends on choosing a workable route, carrying a sensible load, and keeping a way back to shelter.
- Extreme cold and sudden weather shape route timing.
- Hunger pushes players toward supplies and planned hunting.
- Heavy salvage can slow movement and increase fatigue.
- Shelter networks help break long trips into safer stages.
How to use this Permafrost hub
Start with the survival-systems guide for the core loop, then use the database to review survival concepts, resources, world zones, and reported character roles. The FAQ answers identity, platform, launch, and co-op questions, while the news feed records confirmed release and update information.
Exact recipes, coordinates, spawn tables, and construction quantities are not invented here. When a value is missing, it is treated as pending verification rather than filled in with a guess.
